Savchenko Solutions

General Provisions

Savchenko Solutions is a non-commercial collaborative educational platform dedicated to working through the physics problems of the O. Ya. Savchenko problem book. The platform brings together students, undergraduates, and teachers from many countries and language communities. Content on the platform is licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0.

These rules apply to all users of the platform, including authors of solutions, editors, forum participants, and anyone leaving comments under problems. Use of the platform constitutes agreement to these rules.

1. Respectful Communication

  1. 1.1. Users are required to behave correctly and respectfully toward all participants of the platform, regardless of country of residence, citizenship, native language, religion, political views, race, sex, age, and other characteristics.
  2. 1.2. Strictly prohibited are any threats of physical violence, wishes of death, injury, serious illness, or other harm to a user, members of their family, loved ones, or any other persons. The prohibition covers direct threats, indirect wishes, mentions of weapons and military or other means of inflicting harm, and also euphemisms, parodies, and jokes imitating such statements.
  3. 1.3. Insults, profanity, degradation of human dignity, harassment, systematic targeting, doxing, and provocation are prohibited.
  4. 1.4. Hate speech and discrimination on any grounds are prohibited.

2. Political Neutrality of the Platform

  1. 2.1. Savchenko Solutions adheres to strict political neutrality. Authors and users represent various countries and regions, including territories affected by armed conflict.
  2. 2.2. Use of the platform for political advocacy, military propaganda, incitement of inter-ethnic or inter-state hostility, or discussion of armed conflicts in comments to problems, solutions, and learning materials is prohibited.
  3. 2.3. Ascribing to other users a citizenship, political position, or affiliation with any state, armed force, or party to a conflict without verified information, and building insulting or threatening statements on such assumptions, is prohibited.

3. Content of Comments and Discussions

  1. 3.1. Comments under problems and solutions must concern the substance of the material. Appropriate topics include questions about physical meaning, mathematical derivations, methodology of the solution, the wording of the problem, its translation, references to sources, and suggestions for improvement.
  2. 3.2. Messages that are off-topic, or that contain violations of these rules, may be removed by the administration without separate notification of the author.

4. User Accounts

  1. 4.1. Each person is entitled to use only one account.
  2. 4.2. Creation of additional duplicate, secondary, or anonymous accounts is prohibited. In particular, creation of additional accounts to circumvent blocking, inflate rankings, support one's own comments, simulate agreement from other users, or anonymously post violating messages, is prohibited.
  3. 4.3. Upon detection of two or more accounts belonging to one person, the administration has the right to block all linked accounts, and where necessary to apply restrictions by IP address, device identifier, and other technical indicators.
  4. 4.4. Registration data (email address, username) must be accurate. Use of educational institution email addresses in connection with violating actions may be brought to the attention of the corresponding institution.

5. Copyright and Academic Integrity

  1. 5.1. Solutions and materials published on the platform are licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0. By publishing content, the user agrees to the terms of this license.
  2. 5.2. When using third-party sources, attribution must be provided, and the rights of third parties must not be violated. Direct copying of other authors' solutions without attribution is not permitted.

6. Moderation and Sanctions

  1. 6.1. The administration of the platform has the right to remove any content that violates these rules, without prior notification of the author.
  2. 6.2. For violations of these rules, the following measures are applied in order of increasing severity:
    1. removal of the violating message or solution,
    2. written warning sent to the author by email,
    3. temporary blocking of the account for a period from 7 to 90 days,
    4. permanent blocking of the account and all linked accounts,
    5. restriction of access by IP address and other technical indicators,
    6. notification of the educational institution to which the user's registered email address belongs about the fact of the violation,
    7. referral of information about the violation to competent law-enforcement authorities in cases provided for by applicable law.
  3. 6.3. Threats of physical violence, wishes of death, harassment, hate speech, and doxing fall into the category of severe violations and may result in immediate permanent blocking of the account without prior warning. Measures provided for in paragraphs 6.2 (e), 6.2 (f), and 6.2 (g) may additionally be applied.
  4. 6.4. Decisions on the application of sanctions are made by the administration of the platform.

7. Appeal

  1. 7.1. A user who disagrees with a sanction applied to them has the right to appeal the decision of the administration by sending a written request to aliaksandr@melnichenka.com within 30 calendar days of receiving the notification.
  2. 7.2. The administration considers the request within a reasonable time and sends a response to the same email address from which the request was submitted.

8. Amendment of the Rules

  1. 8.1. These rules may be amended or supplemented by the administration of the platform. The current edition is always available at savchenkosolutions.com/en/community-guidelines.
  2. 8.2. Material changes are published on the main page of the platform.
