The solution at revision #20650 of , by Tete. This is not the current version.

Statement

3.7.10. The speed of the "bending" wave of the tire is km/h. What happens when the speed of the car approaches this value?

Solution

The part of the tire in contact with the road flattens temporarily, but its rotundity recovers if the speed of the tire is less than deformation wave speed in the tire. When the speed of the tire approaches the critical speed, a standing wave consisting of bulging and flattening is formed on the tire resulting in rapid bending of the rubber, overheating, and possible tire blowout.
