For problem $13.3.2$

Solution

For problem $13.3.2$
For problem

We use the following observations when drawing images of the arrows:

  1. Light rays parallel to the principal axis in front of the lens converge to the focal point behind the lens.

  2. Light rays diverging from the focal point in front of the lens become parallel to the principal axis behind the lens.

  3. The (real) image of an object near the focal point in front of the lens but farther from the lens than the focal point will appear far away behind the lens.

  4. The (virtual) image of an object near the focal point in front of the lens but closer to the lens than the focal point will appear far away in front of the lens.

Note that the image of the black arrow appears at infinity.
